Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 94 points

  • My first Haart wine. Note made after tasting over two days. Scored as outstanding on the Cellar tracker scale.

    Lovely bright, gold colour.

Nose is a heady mix of lemon, lemon curd and butter, tropical fruits. I think I am going to pass out - this is like catnip to me.

Palate is rich, intense and very long, but for all the richness it is taught and there is some minerality. Tropical fruits come through and the mouthfeel is almost unctuous before the acid comes in to finish ever so clean and dry. Have they used some skin contact? If so, it is beautifully handled.

The only thing I will note that might be seen as a negative is that this is a fair bit more expensive than the Clemens Busch Marienberg GG's, they are similar in style (not the same) and I think the Busch' offer every bit as much (and maybe even a little more). However, this remains a superb wine and cheap compared to White Burgundy or Chablis of equivalent quality and complexity. Great stuff.
