  • Single piece cork. Excellent fill level.
    Almost no sediment. Sieving optional.
    Decanted and tasted over 3h.

    Deep garnet. Slight opacity.

On the nose, the oak was dominant. Almost cloying.

On the finish, there was a persistent rusticity that i found noticeable. My experience is of a single bottle of this wine so whatever that’s worth.

Drink or hold to 2030. Upside is limited.

  • Very consistent with prior notes. Dark garnet core with virtually no sediment. Pine needles, tar, smoke, dark cherry and cola on the nose; quite intense. Bone dry, balanced acidity, tannins are still present but integrated enough not to be obtrusive. Medium to full-bodied, with intense flavors mirroring the nose almost perfectly. Still needs a few more years for the component parts seamlessly to come together, but this is very impressive indeed.

  • Dark garnet core. Classic roses and tar on the nose. Medium-bodied, balanced acidity, still tannic - though not distractingly so. Still remarkably unevolved, with no discernible secondary notes. Loads of tart cherry fruit and brick dust. Long length. This still needs lots more time, but it is very promising...

  • Fairly dark garnet core. Very tight, even after more than 5 hours of air. No sediment in the bottle, which is somewhat surprising. Black pepper and cherry on the nose, showing virtually no age. Plenty of soft tannins, bracing acidity, and a solid core of dark, primary fruit underneath. No secondary notes at all at this point. Like most other 96's, this will probably last forever. Can easily wait another decade. Very promising.

  • Pop and pour. Simply stunning. Still rather primary. Crushed raspberry and strawberry, mint, a touch of tar. On the palate, beautiful crushed red fruit, great acidity and good denstiy. Still surprisingly primary and rather tannic. Very pleasurable, could have waited a lot longer.
