  • There simply can't be a better Albariño at or near the price. Perfect balance plus some volume in the middle and a distinctive waxy horehound on the finish. Opened unstoppered 2 days in the fridge, young and fresh but fully developed with air. Need more.

  • A summer evening in Dublin, a rare event, and with a light dinner planned, salad, cold cuts, cheeses etc., it seemed the perfect accompaniment, so chilling for a while before we sat down to eat, the cork was pulled, and a glass poured. Straw in colour, hinting at a golden hue, the Albarino hues of honey and apricots, with a further clue on the nose of stoney minerals lay in wait. The grapes from the Masaveu Bodegas are hand picked and fermented in steel tanks, before being left on the lees before bottling, which may account for the minerality lying there. First thing to hit you as the mouth watered on tasting, was the high level of acidity, which at first, felt tangy, lemon and lime citrus, but it developed in the mouth, as the acidity died down, and the flavour of orange styled citrus fruit developed - maybe more mandarin/tangerine/clementine, not overtly sweet, and still with the tartness of a citrus fruit, but pleasant. Excellent length to the overall wine, and as dinner progressed, the wine opened up even more to the orangeness, rather than the lime - A very enjoyable 100% Albarino wine from Rias Baixas, one to recommend.

  • Blind Wine Tasting (San Diego Wine Co.): "From a 74-hectare vyd set on rolling hillsides that adjoin, in its southern part, the Tea & Miño rivers, a natural border with Portugal." 4,500 cases imported.

    WAY too cold

    N: PEARS, flowers

P: LM body; Very RNDISH entry with NICE, swtish frt (threshold R.S., I suspect) off-set by a tangy acidity which evolves into a LONG, nicely balanced finish with perhaps just a TOUCH of very, VERY slight bitterness & a tangy/swtness (60/40). NICELY done for now & through '21. 13% ABV; My EXC-. 90 pts Vinous (Raynolds) & 88 WS. [This vendor's $12.99 is $1 < wine-searcher's lowest.]

FYI, I pegged this for a '17 Von Buhl "Pfalz" Riesling. :(
