Lovely aged survivor. Certainly into its ageing fully mature ending but still very drinkable. Some dark berry fruit, plenty cured meat, smokey, a bit of funk. Decent acidity. Good length.

Poor Dave Powell ousted from his own winery. I guess that’s what happens when you run up a $92,000 tab at a Danish strip club plus an additional $15,000 for a “lavish” Sidney lunch on the company's buck. None the less, the wines were great during his time. At 15 years this off vintage bottle still impresses. A blend of 92% Shiraz with the remainder Viognier. Mature nose and palate of aged leather, menthol, dried herbs, creamy black fruit, and slight funkiness. Slightly acidic but otherwise no sharp edges. It’s past it’s prime but I’m not complaining.

Fantastic nose on the pour. Well-balanced not over the top like recent cali syrahs I've had. Maybe the 9% voigner adds the balance? A touch of menthol, leather, creaminess, dried herbs. What more could you ask with a bit of sliced salami and hard cheese? Long finish, deep garnet color.

soft fruit, matured, acidity is nice. aging gracefully, but past its peak. More of a gentle expression.
