The Bric del Fiasc 2013 is great, even if it is still too young to drink. I tasted the bottle over 14(!) days, it was open for 2 weeks in the cellar at 18° C and still fresh, it has incredible potential. On the first day, the wine was still quite closed with aromas such as herbs, nuts, some plums and present tannins. Over the next 7 days, it steadily gained in richness, depth and complexity, the color changing from light to dark red. It now showed additional beautiful fruity and floral aromas, also chocolate, after a week it was at its peak and preserved this for another week. I put the other bottles aside for 5 years, it will then keep at top level for 10 to 15 years, points 95+

3 hours in a decanter (2 bottles) then drank over the next 7 hours. Very pretty nose of spice, tar, violets and cherry. Pallet of cherry, leather, licorice minerals and a touch of tar. Great mouthfeel and long finish. Of the 6 different reds, 2013 dunn Napa Valley, 2016 torbreck the descendent, 2008 circa cab franc, 2014 Pontet-Canet and 1995 Pontet-Canet, this was the overwhelming choice as wotn by our group. I initially, also liked this the best but buy the end of the evening I thought the dunn had caught up and it was a toss up. This is still young and changed tremendously from opening sip to 3 hours later so if you pop a bottle be sure to give it lots of air. Highly recommend.

Typically pale ruby color with clear rim. Very aromatic nose with cedar, tobacco and iron/herbal notes, not a lot of fruit on the nose. Well balanced although the finish comes up short for a wine of this pedigree with still present gripping tannins. Needs food. Will it improve given the lack of fruit?

Slight rim variation. Notes of tobacco and wood, with a little black plum fruit. Stong acidity is a bit too dominant.
