This wine is just smoking here. We paired with Vitello scallopini saltimboca, which was perfect for it. Showing great youthful poise while also demonstrating that rose floral notes and a long tannic backbone bolstered by minerals.

The combination of brick coloring, sweetness, and slightly medicinal / band-aid flavor suggest this wine has brett that the winemaker tried to address. While not overpowering, the brett detracts from, as opposed to enhances, this wine. No amount of aging or decanting will change this. That said, for a 10 year Barolo purchased at $40, it’s a fine QPR. If this wine isn’t already in your cellar, I’d not buy it. If it is indeed in your cellar, drink up! This is a fine weeknight wine to accompany dinner (assuming you’re not overly sensitive to the medicinal flavor), but it is not one for holding or saving to impress your discerning oenophile friends.

Dark cherry, balsam fir, minty herbs. Ready to drink, firm tannins don't really get in the way. Not sure about this being a long term proposition, but it will be worth following for another 5 or so.

Rose petals, violet petals, underripe raspberry, cherries, tar, asphalt, hint of porcini, new leather. Medium + acid and tannins. Paired it with bresaola and that was great! Classic cannubi.
