A colleague returned from Oregon with several 2013-2015 Willamette Valley Vineyard wines which we tasted at dinner on Thursday night. The wines include the 2013 McMinniville, and the 2015 Estate. With these, we also tried the 2014 Drouhin Roserock, the 2014 Ken Wright Shea, and the 2010 Domaine Thenard Givry 1er Cru Les Bois Chevaux.
All of the wines were excellent and I would rate the Willamette Valley Vineyards from 90 (McMinniville), to 92 (estate). My favorite of the evening was the 2015 estate.
The McMinniville was characterized by black cherries, berries, and spice, with good mouthfeel and finish. Well worth purchasing if available. Should last for several years.
