These older Lauer Sekts have been mostly intellectually interesting but not really enjoyable for me. This is a better example but still wouldn't buy this again.

Disgorged June 2022, labelled Brut, 10.5% ABV. Strangely, the label also mentions a 2017 AP number: 3 561 100 8/17. If I am brutally honest, more interesting than attractive. It's very dry and minerally, with noticeable bitters, smoke and dried lime, old spiced honey, vegetal notes, mushrooms and white nuts. It carries the energy from 30 years on the lees through to the finish, but there it's very dry and tight. It's not much fun, really. Is 30 years too long? I did not finish it.

Disgorged Sept. 2016, labeled "nature". This night, the wine just never came around. I usually decant these, but did not here. Expected tart profile at first let little fruit through, and a hint of peat. Even after an hour or so in the glass, the fruit struggled. Only hints of the smoke often seen. Good with King Crab, but overall, less than expectations.

2/2 bottlle. No obvious oxidation for this one, lucky.

Funky stuff. Acidity is still quite strong and it surprisingly fresh.
