  • Lots of secondary notes... Leather, mushrooms and earth, but this has freshness, thanks to the bright acidity. Hints of dried rose petals, tar, and a faint balsamic note. Quite enjoyable.

  • 按csw的说法,头一天开,醒酒,第二天一次喝掉。老neb的微酱油味,尚可。一晚喝掉,再闻这个老酒味有点恶心了。

  • 13% alcohol.

Translucent and quite developed dried-blood color with a thin, pale rim. The nose feels quite tertiary with aromas of bretty phenolic smoky character, some sanguine iron, a little bit of aldehydic green almond, light notes of Kriek lambic, a hint of Band-Aid and a touch of raspberry leaf tea. The wine is surprisingly ripe and full-bodied on the palate for an old Gattinara with rather developed flavors of juicy black cherries, sanguine iron, some crunchy cranberries, a little bit of bretty phenolic smoke, light notes of Band-Aid, a hint of dried red berries and a touch of soy sauce. The acidity feels high, but the tannins are fully resolved and almost nonexistent. The finish is dry, acid-driven and slightly tired with flavors of meaty umami, some tart lingonberries, light smoky phenolic notes, a little bit of bretty Band-Aid, a hint of dried cranberries and a touch of sweeter red fruit. Still no tannic grip.

A drinkable and somewhat enjoyable old Gattinara, but not anymore a pristine one. The wine still retains quite a bit of ripe fruit, but the overall feel is getting a bit tired and rather tertiary, and the wine seems to have a good dose of brett as well. Not that enjoyably funky kind of brett that could lend some nice, rustic complexity, but instead that smoky, phenolic and Band-Aid-kind of brett that strips the fruit and makes the wine feel somewhat medicinal. All in all, this is a still quite good and enjoyable old Nebbiolo, but nothing truly remarkable - even for a wine from such a great vintage as 1964.

  • Drank with Dad on gorgonzola night 2019. One of the most interesting wines I've had in a long time, perhaps ever. A bit reductive when first opened but it blew off with time. Somewhat closed on the nose, but I'd describe it as 'smoked fruit' for a lack of
