  • Perfumed rose and violet florals. Tar, graphite, menthol notes mingling with raspberry, red cherry, pine wood, wild herbs. There are underlying dark earth, leather and black truffle notes. Its powerful big flavours melts in the palate in layers gracefully. With exceptional density and purity. It is structured for the long haul. It is a charming, fragrant Vigna Rionda with an uncomprising core depth and potential.

  • More restrained than 2011 on the nose, still layered with lots of depth. Elegant, quite grippy on the palate with powerful tannins. Very fine length. Needs time. 93-94+(+)

  • Tasted the 2011 and 2012 side by side at the winery. Both were outstanding. The 2011 is more upfront, and surprisingly accessible. It's a beauty, and I highly recommend it. The 2012 is more focused, sweeter in a very pure sense, probably built for the longer term, and also outstanding. If I understand correctly, the 2011 is available now en primeur. This newly reacquired site for Rosso is producing outstanding wines, and these are definitely wines to seek out.
