Brown red rust colour. Lovely spicy nose - tarr/tobacco with blackcurrant, liquorish, vanilla. Powerful on palate with black fruit, blackcurrant and cherry. Some earthiness and toasted oak. Tar and tobacco notes with a touch of smokiness. Hint of mint? Very nicely balanced and structured with nicely integrated tannins.
Impressed and certainly makes me want to try more Barolos

The roses-and-tar aroma typical of so many Barolos gets reworked here into something more unusual and yet also more vibrant. After several hours of decanting, it gives way to scents of dried cherry, nutmeg, chocolate, honey, flowers, liqueur, and petroleum. There is a similar complexity to the taste: cheery, plum, and red fruits are complemented by orange peel, chestnut, chocolate, and tobacco. The tannins are firm but gentle, and the acidity is bright. A pleasant degree of oxidization has given this wine a distinctive character. This is a remarkable wine.

Vibrant nebbiolo nose - kirsch, amarena, some sweet spice. Not quite prismatic, but intense and gourmand. Serried, but tamed tannins make for very agreeable drinking. Kirsch again on the palate, balsamic notes, and soupcon of boiled sweets. Sour cherry and sweet herbs on the finish. A fine effort.
