  • Ready, evolved style, not my favorite.

  • Dsg 04/2014

    Very spicy nose with hazelnut.

The palate restores the year to perfection: the juice is warm, ample and sunny. We have this peppermint in the background, with cinnamon, a lot of vinosity which is surprising for a Blanc de Blancs, and of course this characteristic oxidation that the estate masters so well. Admittedly evolved, this champagne is nonetheless at the beginning of its life. The balance is perfect with a diffuse acidity which gives enough spring to the wine to propel itself and not to hover in a somewhat clumsy way like a lot of 2003. Great finish combining freshness with an effervescence which animates the taste buds and the curry soft on a dantesque length.

Great champagne which brilliantly recreates this very special year in the region

  • One of the greatest bottles of wine we have ever drank… so sad to see it gone. Special night; Chris and Kodie’s 20th anniversary. A big wine no doubt but impeccable balance. Nose of crackerjack, honey biscuits, lavender green apples….. it goes on and on. Mouth feel is luxurious; round but finishing clean and long…. Just wonderful stuff!

  • Selosse Millesime Vertical 1995-2009: Totally opposite to the 07. Oxidized noses with nuts, biscuits, and yeast. On the palate, stone fruits mix with honey in a very well-balanced way. The “biggest” one tonight.

  • Super Tuesday (Chicago, IL): A real treat to come across this bottle again. It's a little more evolved than I remember it last, but not in a bad way. Selosse, being a big proponent of sherry, would love how this is showing. The nose has a distinct, saline, amontillado-like quality that I (now) love. A few years ago, my emotions may have been different. On the palate, this is rich, oxidative, and opulent, without any overtly oaky qualities. No overripeness or roasted fruit (like in lesser 2003s). In fact, this is impeccably balanced, even if the acidity is distinctly lower than the 2008 next to it. I really, really enjoyed this bottle, and while the 2008 eventually eclipsed this, the 2003 was the better wine at the beginning.
