Much better than my first bottle. At opening, vibrant plum and interesting bouquet. Some bricking, deep red, significant tears/legs. Decided not to decant beforehand. Decanted at moment of drinking which was fine. Complex, lightly stewed plum with some structure; very slight sweetness, possibly helped by 10% of merlot in assemblage. Like a top bordeaux with an iberian/tinto fino/tempranillo twist. Excellent.

Started with a weird hyper-acidic character. Died down after 20 minutes. Cork disintegrated. After letting it decant through a filter, as the initial taste was a little vegetal, this one has roasted red fruit, pipe tobacco, campfire roasted dates, and finishes with a fair amount of green bell pepper and peppered tart fig jam. This wine definitely has a hot, roasted fruit vibe to it. But it is definitely still alive and well at 17 years. Drink with a 20-30 minute decant or hold for 10 years.

Red fruit, hint of anise, hint of tobacco, stemmy, savory palate, and long finish. Paired very well with roast lamb shoulder. Much preferred to the 2097 Ridge Montebello Cabernet blend.

Rich black fruit on the nose with a gorgeous fragrant lifted minty herbal character, fresh coffee. Really attractive. Palate is fresh and invigorating, lovely acidity, rich yet elegant. Persistent. Gorgeous wine, very balanced. A little touch of alcoholic heat at the end.
