From the reviews, it looks as though there are two batches of this wine, and it appears that I was gifted one from the poorer batch.
This is the textbook example of a type of wine (average) I would expect to be served by the glass/bucket in a chain pub as it was simple, tannic, thin and offered very little on either the nose or palate. Caveat emptor.

Very tannic still, it could easily last several more years. Whether it’s worth taking up space in the cellar is a different question. Medium ruby color, medium minus complexity, but a long finish. Very dense and dry. Can’t pick out any specific fruit flavors. For $12 (purchased from Trader Joes about 2 years ago) it’s ok, but I’d be disappointed if I’d paid much more than that. I also have a 2011 that I haven’t drunk yet.

Everything I love about right bank wine. A jewel that is in a great place right now. Not showy but oh so charming -- a well poised batch of understated but solid fruit. Glad I held on to a few bottles; there's plenty of back end on this. We're finally digging down to the asteries with this wine -- it was pretty hard on release but now is just a quencher.

This wine is delicious. It needs to open up. Day 2 of this wine has a nose of vanilla, cherry, and earth. It is soft on the tongue and very leggy. My one disappointment in this wine is that I paid $35/bottle and from the comments others only paid $11.
