My first Jasmin. So delicate and floral that you almost forget that this is Syrah. Why do I continue to buy Red Burg that costs double or more than this and rarely thrills me like Jasmin did tonight?
I have a fetish for Volnay, and this is, at least texturally, very similar. Alas, my only bottle.

Big wine for Jasmin. I remember tasting this wine at their domain, and it was notably different than the other wines that were poured. The density of fruit was particularly notable, and it still is. However, with a two hour decant this wine provided plenty of enjoyment. Had a meaty quality, but less spice and delineation than I sometimes find in cote rôtie. Good length on the finish. Intense flavors. Not shy; could improve with more cellar time, I suspect.
No formal note, this has some of the tones you expect from the region but is lacking the body and structure you typically find, the tannins are a little too soft and the acidity not quite enough to take it up to the next tier of enjoyment.

This was good though not great. The nose was still with dark fruits, violets, a bit of olive and smoke. The palate had more energy than my prior bottle and good depth. Overall enjoyable, but not great.

Acid plus, but savory and solid with salinity and savory flavors. Need to bread some brett funk for about 2-3 hours. I highly recommend it with an aged steak.
