94 release, very very bready, fresh out of the oven type nose, with dose of mustiness which I presume is due to both the age and the cork. Doesn’t impact the palate though, is rather sweet and old school.

A Chambolle + Champagne dinner: Labelled 'Cuvée Hors Commerce', released in 1994. Almost salmon pink in colour, overwhelming bready and yeasty notes, guessed early '90s house since this had enough sulphur to kill a horse and dosage to satisfy an 8 year old’s sugar cravings. After some time a few people picked up on a mustiness which I interpreted as clearly corked.

NobleRottersSydney - Sangiovese & Tempranillo (Glass Brasserie, Sydney): {cork} [Geoffrey] Quite a dark colour, with an aged and cheesy nose. Distinct oxidative characters on the palate; it’s flat and short, yet the medium-sized creamy bubbles are in fine form. A fairly recent buy apparently, but clearly sub-par for packaging or some other random reason. I’m always a bit leery of VC for exactly this reason – it happens way too often.

90 first ever! Nice mouth feel, crisp, pleasant, green apple/pear on the nose and palate, light brioche in background but not as forward brioche/almond note as was hoping. Can see how this has wide appeal, but lacking some depth- will keep a few around for entertaining for sure as most will enjoy-

(VEUVE CLICQUOT BRUT) #5; NOSE-peanuts, very floral / lilac aspect, little papaya; TASTE-nice & dry, crisp, well-made, nice structure, good acidity on the back palate, nice, but not profound, one dimensional (pears & apples); GV-89
