  • Low neck fill. Cork decayed but came out intact using Durand corkscrew. Volatile acidity notes on first opening. I decanted this for an hour. It was still thin and lean although the VA went away. Started to taste some light red cherry and it got better over dinner. I should not have paired this with a stew with oranges as it was too tart for this wine. This really needs a creamier dish to do well. That being said, this was not as good as the bottle we had 4 months ago. It got better and better with even more air and we did enjoy it. I recommend a long decant (60 minutes plus) and richer creamier food for this. My last bottle.

  • Little life left. Past prime.

  • My penultimate bottle from a case. Last bottle was 2019. This is just stunning wine. It needs a decant, but even without much of one it was remarkable. It had some volatile acidity at the beginning but this faded eventually. Fine, clear orange color. Light tobacco notes, plum skin. Fine sweetness. Elegant and graceful. Tons of acidity as you would expect, so good with food. I should have decanted it longer (an hour?) perhaps but it was still so good.

  • PnP’d and showed at first on the nose pale fruit, overshadowed by a layer of dust and old mans closet. The mouthfeel was a tad better, where one could feel some energy left in the wine. I let the eine sit in the glass, and over the next 30 minutes the wine improved. Tar and anis on the nose, and quite a deeper palate - but still a little pale for this vintage. Ok bottle, that I believe needs a few hours of slow-o to fully express itself. Have more bottles of this, and will taste another one in the near future.

(Barisone Barolo) Bricking medium dark red violet color; aromatic, dried cherry, baked raspberry, anise, light lavender, light truffle nose; delicious, elegant, dried cherry, baked raspberry palate with a core of tart cherry; surprisingly youthful and should go 20-25 years; long finish (wine made by Francesco Rinaldi, and purchased in demijohn by wine store owner Osvaldo Barisone, who bottle under his own label; side-by-side next to Francesco Rinaldi's own '71 Barolo, this one is fresher and more appealing)

(Barisone Barolo) Bricked medium red violet color with pale meniscus; mature, roses, dried roses, floral, dried cherry, celery salt nose; mature, dried cherry, tart raspberry, tart cherry, autumnal, ginger cake, dried berry palate; long finish (wine was made by Francesco Rinaldi and delivered in demijohn to a popular wine shop in Turin owned by Osvaldo Barisone who labeled it; less advanced than a bottle I tasted a year and a half ago)
