Friday, August 4, 2000 - Some lightening of colour at the rim – mid red shot with bricking. A chocolate/mulberry nose leads to a medium-weight palate, with tannins softened out but fruit still in the background. Reasonable to conclude that 92 was not a great year. No hint of unripeness, but seems the fruit was really worked hard to extract as much as possible. Something of a doughnut wine, with fading fruit on the front palate, acid on the sides of the mouth, and a little astringency at the back. Fair but no more than that.
