Wednesday, August 21, 2013 - Northern Rhônes with Rajat Parr (Stockholm, Grappe): Shiny pure syrah nose, with aromas of violets, pen ink, mineral, herbs, black cherry and blackberry. Not very complex at this early juncture, but the producer has a good track-record for development, as we know from earlier vintages. The taste is medium-bodied with fresh acidity, juicy fruit and grippy, slightly rough tannins. What makes us tick to the beat of this wine is its sheer purity, which isn't at all obscured by any active winemaking or new oak. The future looks bright.
