Consumed over two nights, aromatically subdued, but the usual violety dark fruit with nuances of a meaty quality emerged with some swirling. The usual Gonon purity and impact was on the palate, young, pure fruit, well balanced with chalky tannins in the background. I'm hoping this was just a bit closed up and future bottles will prove to be more engaging. This just didn't have that "wow" that young bottles of previous vintages have provided.
