Friday, November 20, 2020 - My score reflects my personal palate and experience with the wine. I could tell it was well made and that many would like it very much but it simply wasn't my cup of tea. It was very much like a pinot. Translucent and light to look at perhaps garnet in colour. A pleasant but lighter nose but no strong flavours jumping out. On the palate it was light to medium in body but was quite angular and tart. It did have the usual Nebbiolo flavours of rose petals, tart raspberry and, at the end, some tar.
After all the hype and big scores I was expecting a larger more powerful wine. As I say, I am sure many would love this wine and may even describe it a ethereal but at $60 Can a bottle it is not for me. My next wine will, for sure, be a left bank Bordeaux blend to remind me why I love wine so much.

11/21/2020 3:02:00 PM - Very good note. I think the fact that it is not a ballbuster power wine is exactly why so many have raved about it. Very approachable and great fruit, but different strokes, which is why this is a fun hobby.
Is that Canadian dollars? I paid $35 (US).

11/22/2020 4:17:00 PM - Excellent note - Barbaresco should not be an intellectual wine and I'm feeling most of it lately is getting a bit too austere and precious for its own good. It does present like a savoury Pinot Noir more than a solidly structured Nebbiolo should be. For us Canadians its gotta be, pardon my Christopher Walken here, Wowee-Wow-Wow! at this price level up here. Keep the reviews coming.

I se ADDEATUM wrote "$60 Can" so we can safely assume CAD - loonies if you will. So say $46 USD at today's FX. I think Canadian prices are tax-included. So that would be about $42 in U.S. jurisdictions with an upper single digits sales tax rate. (I paid $35 + tax, call it $38 USD inc. tax.)

11/23/2020 8:29:00 AM - Let's also keep in mind that 2016 is a killer, classic vintage for Piemonte and these wines are super, duper young. It's fun to try them at this stage but the real fireworks will come later.
