Thursday, September 24, 2020 - Gorgeous engaging nose with classic rose, high-toned cherry, strawberry and spices, overlaid on a dense dry mid-weight palate with dense red fruit. Definitely a bit tight now but very enjoyable, especially with food. Very good balance. Sipping with a Northern Italian cheese (Millefoglie Al Marzemino) it’s great how the rich mouth filling cheese complements the tart red wine. Not very tannic at first but after a couple of hours tannins starting to appear. Lovely & youthful now, a long life ahead and speaks volumes about how good the Riservas could be.

I actually think it's pretty common for very youthful Barbarescos (and Barolo for sure) to not reveal their tannin walls for an hour or two after opening. Makes them interesting to taste as long as you taste them quickly after opening!
