Wednesday, April 15, 2020 - Some serious aromatics here. Ripe but lively fruit on the nose. Cherry to red berries, ripe strawberry notes. Lilacs! I love lilacs even if I don't get them often in Piedmont (more a Pauillac thing in my books). A cooling licorice character that doesn't get medicinal. A touch of tar and smoke but rather refined.
Mid-weight palate with perfect balance. Fruit definitely spot on with considerable but sophisticated grip and a marked acidity animating the fruit. Licorice and smoke in the long aftertaste with a lovely raspberry pip like lift and mellow strawberry as a closing statement. Fruit and structure taking their turns in perfect harmony.
Rather ready to go IMO. No hurry of course, but this is so damn good at the moment, that I see no reason not to pop!
A very fulfilling wine. And one of the best Roagnas I've ever had. A steal at 20€.
