90 Points

Friday, September 27, 2013 - Dinner at Peking Duck House, NYC the night before Lily's Bat Mitzvah. AP#11-79. Opened as a wine from the year of my Bar Mitzvah. Not a vintage I've ever heard of as being anything great in the Mosel but JJ Prum rarely if ever disappoints when the bottle is well stored. Light to medium yellow in the glass, this was a delicate version of Wehlener Sonnenuhr with the green apple notes typical of the vineyard, petrol/minerality on the palate and a Spatlese like sweetness. Drinking as a middle aged but not old version of this wine from a good vintage but lacking the depth of the finest vintages. Certainly will drink well for another 5-10 years and is one of those wines that makes you wonder how many decades or centuries Prums from the finest vintages can last and drink well for. 50+12+12+8+8=90.
