Sunday, September 24, 2023 - I’ve been drinking this along since release - the last time I had it was July of this year. Day two was something else - and this wine is what day two was then. Pedigree and class, and easily the equivalent of a ten-year old Barolo. Smooth, rich with good depth. Spice powder along with pie cherry and menthol on the nose. In the mouth the wine is truly wonderful - very smooth (until about 3 hours open when it started to tighten - we just did PnP and it was fantastic.) Black cherry, tart acidity and medium plus fine tannin. Big finish, with building acidity that moves up for 30 seconds and lingers another 30. This might be the best Barbaresco I’ve ever had and certainly the best of the Produttori normale. Makes me wonder about the ‘16 single-vineyard wines. Are they going to be a step up? That would be something.

9/26/2023 1:41:00 PM - Thanks for the note. I am yet to try mine but seems like they are drinking well pretty young. I have tried a single vineyard wine from 16 though and it was excellent but young. They also made a Riserva in 16 but that’s buried!

More high toned and without the fuller body of the many single vineyard '16s, but in some ways truer to classic Piedmonte nebbiolo roots. Think this will develop into something REALLY special in five years or so – IF we can keep our hands of it! Cheers!
