April 6, 2024 - Another bottle from the great 2008 vintage in Champagne. Just love the vintage. This Grand Sendree has developed beautifully, with mature apples, pastry and all what I would expect. Nice and rounded mouthfeel. Can recommend.

January 19, 2024 - Super bottle. Rich and round, but with lovely balance. This is drinking very well right now, and I wouldn't hesitate to open another

December 31, 2023 - Fifth bottle from a half case purchased from the Dutch importer in 2018. Identical to my previous note from 23 August 2023, on very fine form, layered and rich, harmonious and well-defined, vanilla and brioche noted in particular this time. Has been performing at peak for a few years now, do not wait too long.

December 17, 2023 - Started off strong, felt like it got a little flabby/one dimensional after 2 hours.

August 23, 2023 - Fourth bottle from a half case purchased from the Dutch importer in 2018. Still perfectly fresh and energetic, with a creamy richness on the palate and beautifully developing aromatic complexity, which is now a heady cocktail of fresh citrus, spiced red apple and white nuts, with floral lift and a hint of oak. Convincing finish, flowing with gentle bitters, very good length. Showing very well, at perfect peak for my palate.

September 23, 2022 - Popped yesterday. Notes from 24 hrs open. Still nervy and super-energetic. Very youmg. Lemon, soft toffee, maybe my last btl was a bit advanced? On the palate: amazing acidity, lovely density, slightly aggressive mousse, long finish. Dark and richly styled nonetheless. Yum.

July 31, 2022 - Dark yellow. The mousse is very fine yet persistent. Ripe apples on the nose and palate.
Rich and creamy, with slight oxidation notes. Beautiful acidity provides texture and good length.

    Drinks well now

April 22, 2022 - 2008 Champagne - 25 top names tasted blind: During a blind tasting dinner. A generous friend brought this special wodden box with him containing 1x 2008 GS normal aged in the Domaine's cellar and 1x 2008 aged under water on the sea bed in Brittany, off the French coast. We were not given any information and were asked to assess the wines as they show. Interesting result. My tasting notes read as follows:
Normal 2008 GS: Beautiful nose of bruised apples, spices, more Pinot led, good aromatic persistence, showing some age, guessing 15y of age. (95pt)
Submarine 2008 GS: More citrus led, feels younger with less evolved Pinot aromas. Extremely precise palate, fresh, the bubbles are noticeably different here, much finer. Very elegant. (96pt)
What a surprise when we saw that these were the same wines with a different aging regime. Both great, but they were indeed quite different.
