ORIGINAL: Ibetian Ran a 5K today. Finished 8 of 15 men 70-74, exactly median, Mr Mediocre! Interesting also right on median men overall and in top half all participants, a lot of whom walked most or all the way. Last week’s 10K I was 6 of 7 men 70-74 (for which I won a 6th place ribbon! I kinda like this modern era, when you you get a prize even when you stink! In my day you had to actually win to get a trophy, by cracky, but I was never fast enough to do that. Of course the thing back then was not your time, but whether you could run faster than the other kid when a velociraptor was chasing you!) I guess the longer distance brought out better old codger runners. Congrats. Running is good exercise and even power walking 3 miles is better than just sitting around. My persistent injuries have taken a toll on my waistline, so I plan to get back into shape here soon after the high school track season. Weather in Chicago has been mixed....some sunny spring days then we have multiple days of rain, which is challenging to work around for these track events, grilling outside, and I have yet to plant much of anything because the ground is constantly wet. Today the plan is grilled pork loin with a Bordeaux to be determined....
