A little late reporting this, as our Philly gang's holiday dinner was last Saturday. We did aged elevation Cabs, which I was happy to supply our 3 bottles: 2002 Lokoya Howell Mountain (my last bottle of any vintage, and one I probably won't purchase again.... not because I don't like it, but because I like Arkenstone Obsidian Howell Mountain better and it's half the price) 2002 Lokoya Diamond Mountain (3 bottles left of this, and I ain't sharing none of them. This, to me, is the perfect representation of the appellation) 2012 Hill Family Estate Atlas Peak (my last bottle of this vineyard from this vintage) Quite frankly, each one was delicious. Out of our panel of 9, only 1 person ranked the Atlas Peak as their favorite. 2 voted for the Howell Mountain. It opened a little tight and tannic, but massively improved as the night went on. The rest, including my wife & me, put the Diamond Mountain at the top of the list. The table agreed that any of the three would have been a pleasure to drink. Other wines that evening: 2005 J.J. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Spatlese - this just keeps getting better every bottle we open. 2007 was our favorite but the 2005 has surpassed it now. Of Prüm's Spatlesens this century, only 2001 tops the 2005 in our opinion. There were also 2 bottles of Champagne, but I can't remember them. I was too busy with the Prüm. Sue me.
