I've finally had a chance to spend a couple of days with the new Dymo framework, and I have a prototype rewrite to the CellarTracker Dymo code. On the Mac I already use the Framework. The future plan on Windows is to use the Framework if available and otherwise to fall back on the old IE and FireFox specific code using the legacy Dymo API. It is a much more complex codepath for me, but I don't want to force people to upgrade from Dymo 6.5, 7.5, 7.8 or 8.2 if it already works well for them.

Anyway, in my early testing the Framework works GORGEOUSLY on Window for IE, FireFox, Chrome and Safari. (I haven't tried Opera, and I also haven't tried 64-bit printers.) I hope to have this working on the main site in the next few days. It shouldn't force anyone to change anything, but for people running Dymo 8.3 they will soon have a lot more flexibility about which browser to use.

OK, coding appears to be done, and I have been testing with a variety of browsers, platforms, and Dymo software versions. This looking really good, so I am hoping to turn it on over the weekend.

As a fairly new demo user, I appreciate your efforts

I am excited to say that these changes are now live. Anyone who is running Dymo 8.3 or later should now be able to print from a MUCH wider range of browsers on Windows: Chrome, Safari, FireFox, IE (32 and 64 bit now). No separate installation of the FireFox XPCOM addin is required.

Please do let me know if you see any glitches by using the troubleshooter at http://www.cellartracker.com/dymo.asp

Well I have heard of no Dymo issues in 2 weeks which is a record. These changes appear to be working nicely!

I went to print some labels this morning only to find that CellarTracker would mark them as printed but not actually send anything to Dymo. It turns out my 8.2 installation needed to be upgraded to 8.3 before it would work. Once I applied the 8.3 software everthing is as normal.

Not complaining since it's a simple upgrade, just letting you know that your plan of not making people upgrade didn't work as planned in my situation.

What browser and version were you using? IE or FireFox on Win or Safari on the Mac?
