Suggestions for the facebook integration:

1) Please allow posting to facebook pages (as opposed to person profiles).
I'd like to have my personal notes posted to my consultancy page, as they're more useful to people who read there than to many of my "general" friends who read my personal account.

2) Please allow facebook posts to be "shared".
Currently, once a post is up on facebook, that's it. It goes no farther than my profile. No one can share it to their page or elsewhere, not even me. The only links take me to the overall wine page or to my profile, so that's not a great option either. This could mitigate the need for posting to a page (though not a complete replacement).

Thanks for listening.

Byron

I just recently joined FB as I noticed more businesses were being linked.  After grouping family together, I grouped in the wine people.  I noticed the post to FB link in the consumption, so clicked that and then noticed that all my postings were under my wife's FB account as I use her computer at home.  Figured out that her e-mail is defaulted even though I am logged into CT with my account.  Whenever I want to post a TN, I need to log out and log back in with my e-mail, then do the same in reverse so she does not yell at me when she gets home.  I would like my notes to post to my account with out all the back and forth.  Otherwise I might be forced to drink only whites and rosé which can correctly post to her account.
This all may be FB problems and nothing to do with CT.
Dennis

Dennis,

What you managed to do was to cache your wife's credentials in your CellarTracker account. There are no CT or FB errors here.

Please see the FAQ: http://www.cellartracker.com/ow.asp?SocialMedia
On your computer make sure that you are signed into Facebook using YOUR account.
Then go to this screen: http://www.cellartracker.com/getcontent.asp
Scroll to the very bottom and click the SIGN OUT button next to the Facebook logo.
Now click the link to reattach Facebook using YOUR account.

Byron, I would like to make this possible, but frankly, the Facebook API makes it a lot harder for me to handle that versus my current very simple implementation. So please don't hold your breath.

Eric,
Thanks, I did figure it out after a while.  When in doubt read the manual, but only after someone suggests that would be a good idea.  I did to go back and and try to change the postings, but was unable. Oh well, red for me, white for msG, we can share the rosé.  I just need to check who is signed into FB before saving.  Next is my own macBook or iPad.  I should have asked for one on my birthday, I got a nice shirt instead.  Every one gets me a shirt, I have more shirts than bottles of wine.

Eric,
I still can not figure out how CT works with Facebook. when I drink a wine, tasting notes, etc, all I get on Facebook is a listing of the wine with it's label. There must be someplace where I can adjust settings according to what I want my friends see.

Have you read the FAQ? http://www.cellartracker.com/ow.asp?SocialMedia

When you post a tasting note, if you accept the option, it posts it to Facebook along with the score, the label, and a link to the wine.

Well, I won't hold my breath either, but to iByron's point, I would also like the ability to add my postings to my "Page" (not my profile) that is a blog of my wine tastings and experiences.

Currently I am only posting my purchases / what I drank to Twitter and Twitter is updating my FB "Page". However, I am not able to do the effectively for tasting notes.

Anyway, just my two cents.

Thanks for listening,

I am having trouble with the Facebook integration. After doing the signup I tried posting two drinking events but was not offered any FB posting options. I am doing this successfully through Cor.kz but would also like to be able to do it through my desktop. Any suggestions?

Within CellarTracker, you have to expand the ADVANCED section. If you do, then you will see (and activate) posting. There are separate advanced toggles for each adding tasting notes, adding purchases, and drinking bottles.
