Introduction

More blind tasting madness...again I scored an invitation off the bench which was most excellent...

Flight 1 (12 Notes)

  • 2013 Sula Vineyards Riesling

    India, Nashik

    Served blind
Lime, chalky minerality, a little buttery note. Medium plus acidity, very slightly off dry, a little chalky minerality, lime and apple.
The nose put me in Australia, the off-dry led to Germany but it wasn't right for either. Guessed Riesling but that was as far as I got.

  • 2007 Weingut Salomon Undhof Riesling Undhof Kögl Flawed

  • 2000 Zarephath Wines Pinot Noir

    Served blind.
Soft red berry, a little spice, a slightly asky note, toast, biscuit. Medium plus intensitya acidity, it's juicy with similar softy berry fruit, talc textured tannins are grippy and drying and, arguably, a little too much for the fruit.

  • 2014 Francesco Tornatore Etna Rosso Trimarchisa

Guessed Southern Italy, 2015, couldn't pick the variety - knew it wasn't Primitivo, Aglianico or Gaglioppo but that was as far as I got...
