**A good friend was here for a special dinner, so I gassed this bottle and put it in the fridge. When I returned to it a couple days later, my dad and I pulled the cork again during a football game. After about 15 minutes, it woke up a little and became far more drinkable. Still past its prime, so don't wait, but perhaps not a lost cause. I wouldn't bring it out for a special occasion, however.

As good as a Ridge zin can get, this had wonderful aromas of graphite, red fruits and a bit of cassis, rounded out with leather and some earth. Flavors were balanced and medium plus in length. The wine opened substantially over the first half hour in the decanter and held there for an hour (until it was consumed). A perfect example of a mature CA zin. Drink or hold a few more years.

Still needs a full hour in the decanter, but it comes together nicely. See previous notes, consistent.

Perhaps a bit less complex, but more weighty than the last bottle. Still delicious.
