Had at Mother's-Day lunch. Very light ruby in color. Big time leathery-earthy funk when first opened to go along with a faint raspberry smell to it. The earth blew off after a while, but that old leather smell (which I love) stayed on throught the course of lunch. Still holding up well after all these years. As for the taste, delicate red fruits along with some definite spice. Tannins are just about gone, but there is a nice kick of acidity on the medium-long finish. Just a wonderful mid-day wine. Balanced, great with food and not overbearing. Just a joy....
