PNP. Color dark nearly opaque w some bricking at edges. nose shows mostly secondary aromas. to start this seemed pretty tannic, but with some air these mellowed out. still plenty of primary fruit under the spicy cedar and leather, with a med length finish. served w roasted leg of lamb and it was perfect.

Still going strong. Nose shows tobacco and cedar w hints of mint. Palate has good weight, good length, and mostly secondary. Continuing to progress favorably.

Dark ruby, barely bricking on edges. Nose with mocha plums. Mouth feel great with coating glycerin and soft tannins, mostly secondary flavors framing fading (i think) dark fruit. finish is lengthy and nice. depends on your preference: to some this will have seen better days (more fruit driven before), to others a perfectly aged and surprisingly nice merlot. this is a birthday wine, so hoping that the remaining six will hold as many years, but skeptical tonight...

At 16 years old, how could a Paloma Merlot not come off being a little tired I thought. Wrong! It should a little bricking at the edge this was a beautifully aged bottle of merlot. Stunning actually with the core of chocolate mocha (telltale for Paloma) now surrounded by earthy aromas. A very long finish that probably was sweet in its youth and is now just a lingering wow. Round, supple, mature but in no danger of any upcoming cliff.
