  I was so looking forward to this 2009 Bordeaux Cru Bougeois that I had in my cellar for the last 6 years since I last tasted it. When poured this wine had an elegant deep ruby colour with sediment that I let decant for at least an hour or two. The aromas were amazing with intense earth notes along with some stone, vanilla, chocolate & little fruit notes. Everything was building up to this being an incredible wine however on the palate it was a major disappointment with little to no body or character. It was smooth, with very little tannins & some earthy notes. Remembering the 1st time I had this wine 6 year ago this time it ended up being just an average table wine.

  Light brickish hue. Earth, tobacco, blackberry, and some red fruit still present on the nose. Softened, but present tannins. Still vibrant, very nice.

  À l’ouverture, la robe est d’un grenat profond, légèrement briquée sur le pourtour, démontre une certaine évolution mais semble encore loin du déclin. Le nez déborde de fruit avec une nuance qui me rappelle le sirop pour la toux aux cerises. Avec un peu d’aération (sans carafe) le nez se place un peu, et démontre une palette plus complexe où le fruit noir et rouge s’entremêlent à des arômes herbacés, et plus tard à des épices chaudes venues de la barrique. Moyennement corsé, les tannins tapissent la bouche, soyeux bien fondus, et une bonne acidité couplée au fruité généreux assure un très bel équilibre à l’ensemble. À douze ans d’âge ce 2009 est dans son peak, avec encore quelques bonnes années devant lui.

  Not sure about this. Very smokey, but also stemmy, both smells merge. Some leather.
  
  Second day out, had with a tuna quiche, and the smokiness and stems were not evident and it paired quite well.
