  • Poured through an aerator into a decanter, aggressively aerated (swirled) in decanter for 1-2 minutes.

This was one of the best wine's that I have opened from my cellar in a long time. I popped it open on Thanksgiving to drink with appetizers and while finishing cooking, so I didn't make any detailed mental tasting notes because I was running around the whole time. But it was very full bodied, fruity yet not in an overly sweet/jammy way, and a perfect lingering finish. That's about the best way I can describe it - perfect. The nose, color, taste, finish, everything about it was near 100% perfect.

I had planned to let it sit 7-10 years when I bought it, and I'm so glad I did Tannins were pretty smooth so I don't think there's too much cellar life left in it. So if you have any of these bottles sitting around, drink up!

  • After 2hr open, Distinctive aromatic nose with tobacco, wood incense, soil, hint of barnyard, and red fruit; the flavor is robust with bright juicy red fruit, plum, red cherry, medium to full body, medium mid pallet tannins, spice, cedar, dirt, layered, long lingering finish

  • This was yummy! I guess letting it sit in my cellar for a few years was well worth the wait!

  • Did not decant and drank by itself. On the nose, intense dark black fruit (blackberry/boysenberry) with spice. Very nice. Also, after opening, there was a pronounced gamey smell (maybe chorizo - I know that sounds strange). On the palate, the wine was round with a nice texture - very smooth. The fruit flavors (all dark fruit) were restrained but the spice was out of control. Lots of black pepper on the mid-palate and the finish. Decent wine - definitely drinkable now.
