A really interesting, almost monolithic wine despite several years of bottle age. I might have pegged the malbec, but not the high concentration of petite verdot even if it explains the color. Crazy blend especially with the tempranillo. Still opaquely purple and a little angular. Do I love it? Not quite, but it's got a lot of stuffing and, is...a thinking-person's wine...which means I'm in well over my depth. So I'll end this travesty by saying it's got black cherry fruit, good acidity, and a long, spicy finish. Bonus: it probably has 10-15+ years left.

Lovely purple color. Nice mouth feel, though trending more astringent than acidic at the end. Raspberry fruit. Some lighter cedar, but then mostly oak at the finish.
Seems a little softer than the previous tasting. Blackberry and raspberry fruit, then some earthy notes before finishing with nice oak. Probably would give it a 90+ just based on the second tasting.

Firm and tightly wound, this Monarchy plays it's pretty raspberry and wild strawberry flavors against a wall of tannins that have some grit to them. A sturdy, rugged leather laced finish. A young bruiser, this red needs some time to soften up in the bottle. Four Vines tasting room - Paso Robles Harvest Festival.

At least an 87. Unfortunately, drank over 3 weeks ago and can't remember details of wine.

I didn't like this one; it was astringent to me. No pop, no fruit, no life. Disappointing.
