1 hr decant. dark crushed berry nose, cassis, and some maple syrup. Still a big attack of more dark fruit, but the mid palate seems a little hollow. The tannins are soft, but it's a little hot that did blow off with decanting. Still, it's got that delicious factor...

seems to be shutting down from it's youthful exuberance? my first few bottles of this were outstanding (esp at $40), then a few that were above average, and this bottle one was overoaked and just out of balance. still a good buy, will let the rest of my stash rest.

Quite a bit of oak and vanilla on the nose that seems to dominate the hint of floral tones that are there as well. However the wine shines on the palate with a velvet glove texture and loads of blackberry, cassis and milk chocolate. Tannins present but not overbearing. Finish has a touch of acidity and is quite long. Has all the makings of a wine that can benefit of a few years sideways.

Drinking very nicely, no formal notes taken.

Throwing some sediment, a decant is a must. Moving along nicely, and gaining some 2ndary notes.
