Tasted blind after decanting, the majority of tasters swore this was an early '90s or late '80s nebbiolo - several believing it was an old barolo. Like many older Ridge bottlings, the mature bouquet and claret-like palate mostly hide the typical grenache aromas and flavors. A wonderfully mature, complex wine. Drink up!

Just a tad too much age for my tastes, but smooth, bright red berry fruit, leather and earth. Still plenty tannic in a good way. And the nose -- it developed a beautiful perfumey nose that one can only say smelledl like everything that is good about Ridge! A lot of fun drinking a 12 year old new world style Grenache that was still holding its own.

Blind Ridge Lytton Springs and Lytton Estate 1990 - 1997 (Berkeley): Group's #8; my #7; 1 first; 2 second; 1 third; 4 last. Aromas and flavors of cassis, spice, oak, minerals, and alcohol. Still slightly tannic and alcoholic; medium finish.
