Very good wine with solid structure and although tannic quite smooth and easy to drink. Definite eucalyptus and medicinal notes but chock full of black currant, chocolate, herb, and tobacco. Very nice length to the finish. Great winter or cigar wine. Probably good for another 5-7 years.

This is in its prime at eight years old, with a bold profile that is nevertheless smooth and balanced. The nose initially is overwhelmed by bell pepper, but with some time to breathe (and only a bit of time at that - about 30 minutes) the vegetal notes dissipate, leaving blackberry, eucalyptus, anise and tobacco behind. There's a fantastic dark chocolate note on the palate that carries through in the well-rounded finish. While still noticeably tannic, the tannins have definitely mellowed into a well-rounded character.

Superb. Could easily cellar for another decade. Plenty of tannin. A powerful nose.

Drank right after Cliff Lede 2002 and it was superb by comparison. Love the Monte Rosso vineyard wines.
