Peta (plus others) big birthday celebration (Peta & Loic's place, Croydon(ish)): Wood glue, black and red berries, sweet spice, slight whole bunchy notes, jubey berries, a little almost orange peel. Medium plus intensity acidity, juicy, savoury dark fruit, talc textured burr, rather nice and has time ahead (as long as that wood glue note doesn't take over)

Festival of Phil (Phil's place, Putney, Sydney): From Coravin. Closed and reticent initially but, with time, polished oak, red and blackberry, sweet spice, cream and I get a little ashy herbaceousness. Juicy, tangy, slightly sour, slightly herbaceous, something not quite right here. Hmm.

Visiting Phillip Jones of Bass Phillip (Gippsland Australia): Tasted with Phillip Jones at his cellar and over lunch at Tomo in Inverloch, Gippsland after. Lovely pairing with Miso Duck. Purple colour, slightly muted nose at first, with dusky earth, and cherry cola. Palate was rather thick, but clean and finely balanced with good acdiity and a hint of tannins, with a long finish and nice pure cherry fruit throughout. Very finely balanced indeed, just needs a bit more complexity that time in the bottle may bring.
