Less impressive showing than previous tasting. This Doyenne had a dry raisin light Amarone quality about it. It came off hot, especially initially, but still after a two hours. A nose that is best described as candied cherries with a slight burnt edge. My how this has changed.

I’m pretty impressed with this Doyenne. It took about an hour and a half to really open up, but I got chocolate, powdered cocoa, spice and raspberry on nose. Super textured with elements of kirsch and candied cherries. Really, my first reaction was that I was smelled and tasting a black forest cake. Wow! Tannins are smooth and a medium length finish that lingers on the palette. This is not a super concentrated fruit bomb from down-under, but it delivers and is a refined.
