By the glass as a welcome at The Edition Toranomon , Tokyo. Almost freshly opened . Always better a bit over shilled we feel, bright , soft , very much a variant of an NV champagne to the blind taster. Good maybe lacking a bit of depth but lacking no charm whatsoever . 89-90

Edition 44. I’ve actually had this wine quite a few times as it is my friend’s favourite. Each time I’ve had I had very different impression of the wine and I could probably score it between 87 and 91 depending on the occasion. Medium gold colour and fine bubbles show pedigree. Fruit character is quite ripe with yellow apple and banana. The nose is dominated by lees character, however, but it’s not similar to that of Champagne: dry cottage cheese, sour cream, and only distant croissant. There is also butter and fresher cream character. On the palate, the mousse is not very expressive but it could be a tired bottle. Lemon and crisp apple acidity. A little bit of baked apple. Leesy bitterness continues into the finish. 8+/18

Excellent, full body, easy to drink, still responsive. Well balanced.

Robe très claire, fines bulles. Nez citronné avec une touche de foin. Une bouche simple, léger goût de citron. Manque de caractère pour le prix.

Eye: Pale straw to medium yellow. Firm mouse. Fine bubbles.
Nose: Toast, fresh bread, light nuttiness. Lemon, green grapes.
Palate: Well balanced acidity. Biscuit, lemon. Lightly oxidative, some peanut butter. The bottle says extra brut, but the wine doesn’t feel that way.
Finish: Short. Tart lemon, lingering nuttiness.
Overall: Very nice. Better than I remember it being the last time I had it.
Bottle Notes:
Edition: 45
Disgorged: Autumn 2022
