Very good Zin in a richer than normal style for Ridge. Big but not huge, soft but not flabby, fruity but not a bomb. Reminds me a little of Black Chicken. Pretty awesome.

A very impressive debut for Ridge. This comes with a real strong sense of mountain fruit given its dark richness and understated expression. The oak is really spicy here. Focused, fine tannin. This really has the fruit to make it last and it really needs more integration time. That darker fruit character on a Zin with this sort of fruit depth is hard to dismiss. One to keep an eye on.

Purple in color. 14% ABV. 98% Zinfandel and 2% Petite Sirah. Sublime nose of black fruits, plums and licorice. Full bodied with medium acidity. Rich, lush and well balanced. Blackberry, mulberry, blood orange and baking spices on the palate. The finish is long and supple. Delicious Zinfandel that has an appealing opulence and flair. Approachable now but this will drink well for another 3-5 years.

is this what Zin harvested in August tastes like? If it is, bring it on: harvest for flavor and not for sugar, please! Bravo, Ridge
