Have not had time to enjoy this wine for a while, and this is so Shafer and Carneros. Shafer is known for its reds but the Chardonnay should not be missed. This shows aromas of nectarines, peaches, caramel tart, cinnamon and white pepper. The palate is bold and juicy yet with a lot of energy and persistence, tons of white orchard fruit, citrus peel, sweet spices and vanilla bean, the mid-palate shows both depth and brightness, wonderful layers, finishing with a refreshing chalky note.
