  • Much more supple than a typical montepulciano. Very strong scent of vanilla on the nose, along with fruit (mostly berry). Deep, deep plum color. Fruit forward taste, but definite complexity in the mouth -- tones of earth and coffee. Excellent with pasta. Very nice wine for the price.

  • "My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard." Combination of fruit and strongly vanilla oak. Some interesting bitters and funk on the end gave this some interest. Not really MdA.

  • A rich, complex, smooth and delicious red wine from a region I usually associate with more tannic and austere wines. This really did take me by surprise. Bought for 15 GBP from the Oddbins chain of winestores in the UK and was expecting something with quite high tannins and a bit of grip. What I actually got was surprising. Deep, lush red colour. The nose is wonderful - smoke, dark fruits, cigar box, leather - smells like a fine bordeaux. In the mouth the wine is low in tannins, soft, elegant and complex - some bitter chocolate and herbs. Really a very beautiful wine and one that would fool quite a lot of people into thinking they were drinking something twice the price and from a different country. Long, lingering after taste with a slight sweetness to finish it off. Very good. Will buy more and if you are in the UK I recommend shelling out 15 quid on a bottle.
