My first GSM (Grenache 50%/Shiraz 26%/Mourvedre 24%); Barossa Valley, Australia; I liked it. Dark fruit-forward, spicy, ripe redcurrant, plums, dried blueberry with dark chocolate notes; juicy; rich; layered with boysenberry, roasted thyme, upholstery leather, and dark earth.

Subtle floral bouquet. Still wound a little tight. Garnet in the glass. Tannins are round and smooth with lively acidity. Finishes medium plus. This is a great GSM expression. Nicely done.

Needs at least a few more years. Very concentrated and high acidity, medium tannin. Jammy strawberry and raspberry leading into tobacco and chocolate on the palate. It’s too fruity now and lacks some complexity, but should age well.

I went with a 30 minute decant. Likely needs at least 60 mins.
Deep ruby in the glass and an explosive nose of strawberry, cherry, chocolate, vanilla, and lavender. Aromatically, this is quite intense but beautiful. Entry is a a tad disjointed in its youth and right out of the bottle, but the mid palate is well integrated and there’s an acidity and complexity here that makes me think this is going to be very good in 5 years. Don’t get me wrong, it drinks really well now. But I think the best is still ahead for this wine. Palate of ripe red fruit, lavender, and bit gamey. Nice long finish with medium tannin.
Full disclosure: I am a sucker for elegant, purpose-built, Barossa Valley wine. This is not big and flabby.
