If the score is an expression of how closely the wine approximates the ideal (considering grape, region, etc.) I would rate this lower. But it really is an enjoyable wine with lots of layers and complexity. It's a California Pinot Noir that defies description. Not in the style of California. But not in the style of Burgundy either. Something entirely different. Central Coast Pinot on steroids. Darker fruit than I've come to expect from California Pinot. Heavier on the palate as well. More prominent tannins and less acidity are more reminiscent of Cabernet than Pinot. This is not a pool-side Pinot. This is Pinot with gravitas.

The extra year in the bottle made the difference. Cherries! Bright, lively. Even the second night after vacuum capping, so probably could use a good decant. This is going to continue to improve.

Cracking the whip; 10/16/2023-10/23/2023 (Eagan, MN): N: Beautiful cherries that’s both ripe and fresh, while being fun, bright and buoyant. There is also a pleasant tangerine note. This nose is ridiculous, so fresh and exciting, like those fashion runway shows.
P: Lighter cherries on the palate, a touch of earth but leaves rather quickly. Gracefully thin on the palate, in a good way.
Palate left me wanting more, but I loved the nose very much. I could smell this for days.

Very good. Aromas of red berry cola and a vibrant palate with tart cherries and a bit of leather. The flavors linger in the mouth for awhile.
