This is a deep, dark, ruby to maroon color. The intoxicating nose has blackberries, cedar, licorice, minerals, black pepper, blueberries, violets, with hints of smoked meat and dark chocolate. The wine if full bodied with fairly solid, velvety tannins and nice acidity. There are rich, peppery berries on the palate with some black cherry and dark chocolate adding depth. The finish is fairly long with the dark chocolate and berries carrying the load. Not a lot of subtlety but very tasty.

Brief decant. Deep maroon color. Blackberries, cedar, licorice, minerals, smoked meat, fresh cracked black pepper, violets, and some cherries and earthiness on the big and open nose. Full bodied with solid, ripe tannins and nice acidity. Nice spicy fruit on the palate with some dark chocolate coming through on the back end. Long finish with loads of spicy, peppery fruit and chocolate. Nothing subtle about this wine. Definitely a love it or hate it style of wine, and I love it.

color: Inky purple black to the edges mouthfeel: silky tannins, yet well balanced, full and round taste: slightly sweet, but classical syrah grape. big and bold, yet smooth. sophisticated nose: nice juicy
really wonderfully made. Austin Hope did a great job with this, and really represents the newer paso robles winemakers of big but smooth wines, instead of the big wines with bite. I really enjoyed this, haven't had a syrah this good in a while. it easily could have aged another 3-5 years

Nice but took a while to open up. First glass was a bit watery, but later on it showed what i remembered from the tasting.
