Enjoyable, but like the other few recent DeLille reds I've tried, pretty weak and dull for the price. Extremely shy on the nose, almost reductive at first (thankfully, not too much) until it begrudgingly shows some faint black cherry and maybe some plum jam something-or-other on the nose. A touch of chocolate oak too, or maybe fig newtons, nicely integrated, if very simple and only barely-present. There's some very pretty fruit buried deep here, and it's not overwhelmed by oak at all, but it's so faint that it's difficult to really describe. Exactly the same on the palate; very faint and thin. Acidity is awkward, too tart for the rest of the profile. Tannins are pretty fine, almost too much. There's decent balance and energy here with some pretty fruit, but it feels like an early-picked warm-climate red that wasn't allowed to become what it wanted to be. The kind of wine that trades everything for a sense of balance; including excitement and sheer deliciousness. No more engaging than the 2020 D2, and more expensive. I might be underrating this for the quality alone, but the price feels extremely high for what it is.
